Studies by the Barna Research Group indicate that just over 66% of Christians make the decision to follow Jesus Christ before the age of 18. Bible Camps focus on sharing the Gospel and offering hope and life to young people during some of their most critical years.

While not everyone can personally serve at camp as a staff member, anyone can be part of the mission and vision of sharing the Gospel with those in need.

Camp Stories

When Sandra (not her real name) first came to HPWC in 2021, she came because her friends brought her. The camp sounded fun with horses, tipis, and games.

She didn’t realize it was a Bible Camp, and the chapels and devotionals upset her. She couldn’t believe her friends would do this to her! Why would you come to a Bible Camp, of all places?

As the chapel speaker shared the Gospel throughout the week and the staff engaged her in tipi devotions and conversation, the Holy Spirit began to work in Sandra’s heart. Little by little, He chipped away at the anger and frustration, and she began to see how much God loved her. Her sins could be forgiven, and she could have a relationship with her Creator!

Sandra decided to commit her life to Jesus Christ, becoming a bright light in her unsaved community of friends and family. In 2022 and 2023, she came back to camp, passionate about her faith and full of questions from reading the Bible.

In 2024, after reading about baptism and discussing it with her tipi leader that she was in touch with throughout the winter months, Sandra requested to be baptized in the Little Smoky River near camp. Her life is a testimony to God’s grace and love, and is one clear example of how HPWC has been used to impact people’s lives for eternity.

Adam (not his real name) came to camp in 2023 as an atheist, sure that God, especially the God of the Bible, didn’t exist. As his tipi leaders shared the Gospel through their devotional times and the camp speaker talked about how we are all sinners and need a Savior, Adam began to see himself for who he was: a created being made in the image of an all-powerful God, separated from Him by sin.

At campfire on the last night he said, “I’m not ready to make the decision to follow God yet. But I am going to go home and continue thinking about what I heard and doing some research. But I can tell you this: you can’t come to HPWC and leave without knowing there is a God!”

Adam returned in 2024, and after asking many questions and listening intently during chapel, he made the decision to surrender his life to Jesus. He told the camp speaker, “Thank you for helping me make the decision to follow Jesus.”

Multiple other campers have given their lives to Christ at camp over the years, with some being baptized in the river. Young adults have come as Junior Staff, learned leadership skills, received in-depth Gospel training, and eventually moved into top leadership positions as they come back year after year. Many of our staff have made the decision to go to Bible School to further their training and spiritual growth, returning to staff at camp year after year.

J2K Ministries is impacting the lives of our campers and staff with the eternal truths of the Gospel, teaching what it means to live a life completely devoted to following the Master.

Operating this type of ministry in a way that is affordable to everyone requires substantial financial output. As we move forward with plans for growth and reaching even more people with the Gospel, we are setting a goal of raising $208,800 per year. This will enable us to not only just cover operating costs, but will enable us to meet the growing demands of the ministry as more opportunities continue to open up.

Did you know that if only 580 people donated only $30 per month, we would reach that goal of $208,800? That’s it! If you take a couple of friends to Tim Horton’s, or one friend to lunch at Subway, $30 is less than you’ll potentially spend.
