J2K Ministries – Statement of Values

The following values reflect our intent and purpose as a ministry organization. Our desire is that individual members of our team seek to exemplify these values in both their personal lives and during their time serving with J2K Ministries:

A. Not a Gossip

a. Defined as discussing something with someone who is not a part of the solution and when there is perhaps negative results from discussing the situation.

B. Servant leadership vs. Self-centered Leadership

a. Defined as being focused on serving those you lead for the purpose of increasing their own growth and effectiveness in their work and ultimately the primary goal (whatever that may be), as opposed to serving those you lead so they can, in turn, push you forward in your own personal goals.

C. Honesty / Transparency

a . Defined as being straightforward and none-evasive, telling the truth in all circumstances; demonstrating integrity through words, actions, and motives.

D. Trustworthy

a. Defined as being predictable, dependable, and consistent through positive and negative circumstances.

E. Compassionate, Merciful, and Gracious

a. Defined as living a life characterized by an attitude of compassion, mercy, and grace to those around you, even in the case of disagreement or being wronged.

F. Humility

a. Defined as having an appropriate, modest view of one’s abilities or achievements. This is not to be confused with self-depreciation which is evidence of an unbiblical view of oneself, or a false humility that has deep roots in pride.

G. Team Player

a. Defined as being willing to work in joyful, whole-hearted unity with others of different personalities or perspectives to accomplish a common goal.

H. Teachability

a. Defined as having a heart and mind that is open to being taught and examining new perspectives, ideas, or ways of doing things, and being willing to joyfully adapt to new ways of doing things to facilitate unity and movement towards a common goal.

I. Accountability

a. Defined as being willing to be accountable to others without being defensive and receiving correction, exhortation, or encouragement as the situation requires.

J. Respecting / Honoring Parents and Authority Figures

a. Defined as seeking through actions and attitudes to respect parents and other authority figures such as pastors, teachers, work bosses, or ministry leadership staff. Respect does not mean mindless, total obedience, but is instead a condition of the heart and mind that is exemplified through an ongoing pattern of respectful actions/attitudes and dialogue with/towards those in authority.

K. Forgiving

a. Defined as living a lifestyle characterized by a willingness to joyfully forgive when wronged, even without being asked to forgive by the offending party; choosing not to hold grudges based on previous wrongs. Not to be confused with enabling someone to continue causing damage through wrong behaviour or attitudes through a misunderstanding of what it means to extend grace.

L. Courageous

a. Defined as a lifestyle characterized by a pattern of making courageous choices to submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ in all aspects of their life.  This may look like standing against popular opinion, graciously refuting error, and choosing to make decisions based on Scripture rather than the status quo even in light of possible personal cost.

M. Not Manipulative

a. Defined as not seeking to distort the truth or take advantage of another person’s emotional or mental faculties to obtain something they want, whether as a decision, action, or commitment on the part of the person being manipulated.
